چکیده

Understanding electrodes' surface morphology influence on ions' distribution is essential for designing supercapacitors with enhanced energy density characteristics. We develop a model the structure of electrolytes near rough electrodes. The describes an effective electrostatic field's increase and associated intensification spatial separation at electrode-electrolyte interface. These adsorption-induced local electric properties result in notably increased values sharpened form differential capacitance dependence applied potential. Such behavior observed many published simulations, its description beyond capabilities established flat-electrodes theories. proposed approach could extend quantitatively verified models providing new instrument electrode surface-parameter optimization specific electrolytes.

Anomalous roughness with system-size-dependent local roughness exponent.

We note that in a system far from equilibrium the interface roughening may depend on the system size which plays the role of control parameter. To detect the size effect on the interface roughness, we study the scaling properties of rough interfaces formed in paper combustion experiments. Using paper sheets of different width lambda L0, we found that the turbulent flame fronts display anomalous...

Electrolyte-Dependent Aggregation of Colloidal Particles near Electrodes in Oscillatory Electric Fields.

Colloidal particles adjacent to electrodes have been observed to exhibit drastically different aggregation behavior depending on the identity of the suspending electrolyte. For example, particles suspended in potassium chloride aggregate laterally near the electrode upon application of a low-frequency (∼100 Hz) oscillatory electric field, but the same particles suspended in potassium hydroxide ...

Exploring electrolyte organization in supercapacitor electrodes with solid-state NMR.

Supercapacitors are electrochemical energy-storage devices that exploit the electrostatic interaction between high-surface-area nanoporous electrodes and electrolyte ions. Insight into the molecular mechanisms at work inside supercapacitor carbon electrodes is obtained with (13)C and (11)B ex situ magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS-NMR). In activated carbons soaked with an ele...
